Reaching Out to the Community

While GATES PCM Construction Ltd has continuously reached upwards in its desire to attain greater heights, it has also reached outwards towards the community to constantly give back to the less fortunate in society. And the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts in recent months have been a testament to this consistent culture of giving

After last year’s much publicised charity event at SWAMI Home and Sree Narayana Mission, the management of GATES PCM Construction Ltd was resolute in ensuring that such an effort would not end as a one-off contribution.

DSC_0151Director for Branding and Quality, Mr Sivanessan, said, “Last year’s effort was immense as the GATES Family acted as one inspired force and influenced other entrepreneurs to aspire to give back as well. As such, we had to ensure that our contribution becomes consistent in the coming years, in order to remain an inspiration to others and build a culture of giving.

This desire gave rise to two charity events in just the last four months. And it was remarkable that both the efforts were proposed by the company’s employees through their own initiative.

The first was proposed by Works Train Station Supervisor, Mr Rajenderan sio Rathinam, who introduced the company to Anderson Secondary School’s Parents Support Group. The group conducts an annual food fair for needy students and this year, GATES PCM donated 1500 cans of soft drinks, much to the delight of the 1200 students that attended the event.

Computer Systems Administrator of GATES PCM Construction Ltd, Mr Avun Mohamed, who attended the event and distributed drinks to the students, said: “Seeing the joy and enthusiasm of the kids when receiving our drinks was an unforgettable experience. It makes me want to get more involved in our company’s CSR initiatives, especially if they are meant for such kids.”

The second event took place just a week before the recent Hari Raya Festival, at Al-Khair Mosque in Teck Whye Crescent. This time, it was Quality Service Manager, Mr Nazarisham, who initiated the effort. This effort resulted in a fruitful event, which saw the GATES Family hand deliver 120 provision hampers, which would last a typical family for a month, to the doorstep of needy Muslim families in the Teck Whye, Choa Chu Kang and Yew Tee areas.

However, these two events will not be the end of GATES PCM Construction Ltd’s charity effort this year as the management promises to deliver a final charity event in the last quarter of the year, to cap off a wonderful and meaningful year of giving.
