Mr. Krishna crowned overall winner at EYA awards
CEO and Chairman of GATES PCM Construction Ltd, Mr. Krishna, officially became the top entrepreneur in the country for 2015 on the 27th of November during a gala dinner held at the Ritz Carlton, Millenia Singapore’s grand ballroom.
The event, was the official award ceremony for the Entrepreneur of the Year Award (EYA), organised by the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises and Rotary Singapore. The EYA is one of Singapore’s most prestigious and illustrious awards for Entrepreneurs of Small & Medium Enterprises and has been recognising top entrepreneurs in Singapore for the last 27 years with the support of sponsors and partners such as OCBC, Starhub, Chivas and Mediacorp.
The EYA is well known for its stringent and diverse judging process that features multiple submissions, interviews and site visits. At the same time, it holds prominence for its annual award ceremonies that go all out to showcase glitz, glamour and prestige in order to give its winners a sense of achievement and recognition.

With Mr. Krishna having been announced as a winner in the established entrepreneur category of the EYA during a press conference on 14th September, he was in contention for the overall winner position together with 8 fellow winners who hailed from various industries.
During the final interview, which would determine the overall winner, an esteemed panel of judges that included former Member of Parliament, Mr. Inderjit Singh, tested the winner’s mettle in a bid to identify the cream of the crop.
Senior Vice-President of GATES PCM Construction Ltd, Mr. Dexter Allan said: “We were always confident that we had a shot at the top prize of EYA. However, our performance during the final interview gave us a sense of assurance that we were in pole position. Nonetheless, you never count your chickens before they hatch and therefore, there was a sense of suspense till the final moment.”
When that moment came with the announcement of Mr. Krishna having clinched the overall winner title, the 30-member strong GATES PCM Contingent erupted in jubilation. Mr. Krishna received the award from Guest of Honour, Minister for Manpower, Mr. Lim Swee Say before celebrating with his partners, staff and family.
“It is truly a joyous occasion and a milestone achievement for my company and myself. This award has not only given me greater recognition as an entrepreneur, but also immense responsibility to continue being an exemplary entrepreneur for community.”, said the overjoyed 58 year-old entrepreneur whose story of rags to riches and comeback from downfall, has not only inspired the EYA team, but also the entrepreneurial community at large.
